The
Coaching Style Inventory (CSI) is
a training and self-development tool that helps athletic
coaches to better understand their own interpersonal style
and how they relate to players and fellow staff members. The
CSI can be completed in about 15 minutes and is
comprised of 48 behavioral items rated on three-point scales
The CSI is a
developmental tool and well-suited for workshops and
self-improvement. The CSI also can be used in team
building exercises by having the coaching staff or the
entire team complete it. Using the CSI can improve
performance by increasing a coach's understanding of his or
her typical way of interacting with others and how this has
an impact upon coaching effectiveness.
