Child Inventory-4 Parent Checklist (ECI-4) |
User
Level: B
The Early Childhood Inventory-4 (ECI-4) is
a behavior rating scale for young children that screens for a variety of emotional and
behavioral disorders that is based on the criteria
specified in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-IV (1994;
American Psychiatric Association). The ECI-4 is appropriate for use with
male and female children 3-5 years old.
ECI-4 scores show a high degree of
correspondence with psychiatric diagnosis (predictive validity) and correlate
well with other commonly used dimensional scales of psychopathology (concurrent validity). As a
result, the ECI-4 is useful as a screening instrument in mental health settings,
pre-school settings, and healthcare facilities.
Two versions of the ECI-4 are
available. The ECI-4 Parent Checklist contains 108 items and screens for
15 emotional and behavioral disorders while the ECI-4 Teacher Checklist
contains 87 items and screens for 13 emotional and behavioral disorders. Each
of these instruments is designed to be completed in less than 20 minutes.
